Assalamu’alaikumWr. Wb.

The honorable teacher Mrs XX and all my beloved friends,

First of all, lets pray and thanks to our God, Allah SWT who has been giving us mercies and blessings so we can attend and gather in this place in good condition.

Secondly, may peace and salutation always be given to our Prophet Muhammad SAW who has guided us from the darkness to the brightness. So by his guidance, we are able to differentiate the good things and the bad one, the right way and the wrong way, in order to enter God’s paradise.

Thirdly, Thank you so much to MrsEma who has giving me opportunity and time to speak in front of you all.

In this nice occasion, I would like to deliver my speech about cigarette advertisement in sport events. Let me start my speech.

Are you belonging to the fans of sport events? If yes, you will often see so many advertisements in the sport events, some of the advertisements are from cigarette companies.In Indonesia cigarette companies become the biggest company which is giving sponsor to the sport events.

IMI is one of organization in Indonesia which is organize so many sport events, IMI organize about 50 events every week and more than 30 events are sponsored by cigarette companies with fund minimum Rp100.000.000 in each event.

According to it, we can say that the existence of sport events in Indonesia is still influenced by the advertisement from cigarette companies.

Then, what is my opinion about the statement that said that cigarette advertisement should be banned from sport events? My opinion is I’m agreeing with that statement. Why? I have some reasons for that.

1.      Cigarette contains so many ingredients which gives bad impact to human body. Cigarette contain over 4.000 chemicals substance, 51 of them are carcinogenic and addictive. That chemical substance killed so many active smokers in Indonesia, not just it, cigarette is more harmful and gives more bad impact to the passive smoker’s body.

2.      The spectator of sport events are majority from the young generation of Indonesia. When they saw cigarette advertisement in the sport events, they will feel want to know about it, then they will try to smoke. After once trying, they will feel addict and smoke again because cigarette contains addictive substances. The effect is the youth as the next generation of this country will have unhealthy body and get so many disease and illness. Then what will happen to our beloved Republic of Indonesia?

3.      Athletes of sport events need to have healthy body, if they are become smokers, they will lose it, and then they may not win every sport competition.

4.      The goal of sport events in Indonesia is to make the resident of Indonesia become interested in sport events and the advantage of it is Indonesian resident will have healthy body. That is really contrary with the cigarette, cigarette will gives bad damage to human body.

Ladies and gentlemen,

According to it, I think cigarette advertisement should be banned from sport events and to protect the persistence of sport events in Indonesia without the fund from cigarette companies, I have some solution.

a.      During the increase of electricity cost and the decrease of gasoline subsidy, the addition money from that area could be use to boost the budget of the sport events in Indonesia

b.      Indonesia must have strict law, so no one will corrupt the budget of sport events

c.       The cigarette advertisement in Indonesia should be replaced with other advertisement, for example: healthy drink company, sport appearance company, and other companies that related to sport and gives benefit to the healthy life.

That’s all my speech, I do hope my speech will be useful in our life in this world and here after. As human being, I realize that I can’t avoid the mistakes, so I would like to say apologize. Thank you so much for your attention.
